Recent changes in the Federal ruling on Energy Efficient Tax Credits will impact the HVAC Tax Credits for 2009. As part of the stimulus bill, signed into law by President Obama, significant changes impacting energy efficient tax credits were passed. As a result the information initially communicated to you in 2008 is no longer accurate. Below you will find current Federal Tax Credit minimums and credit amounts.
- Tax Credit extended to include 2009 and 2010 for HVAC products
- Minimum energy efficiency values have been modified to reflect the highest CEE tier in
each category. Below is a complete list of the minimum efficiency requirements.
A/C - 16 SEER / 13 EER
Heat Pump - 15 SEER / 12.5 EER / 8.5 HSPF
Package A/C - 14 SEER / 12 EER
Package Heat Pump - 14 SEER / 12 EER / 8 HSPF
Natural Gas Furnaces - 95% AFUE
Natural Gas Hot Water Boiler - 90% AFUE
Propane Furnace - 95% AFUE
Propane Hot Water Boiler - 90% AFUE
Any Oil to Gas conversions meeting above criteria
- Tax Credit amount has been changed from a fixed dollar amount to a percentage of total
property expenditure.*
Credit amount based on cost of installation
Credit amount is 30% of total property expenditure
Credit capped at $1,500 for expenditures in 2009 and 2010**
