Recent changes in the Federal ruling on Energy Efficient Tax Credits will impact the HVAC Tax Credits for 2009.  As part of the stimulus bill, signed into law by President Obama, significant changes impacting energy efficient tax credits were passed.  As a result the information initially communicated to you in 2008 is no longer accurate.  Below you will find current Federal Tax Credit minimums and credit amounts.


    - Tax Credit extended to include 2009 and 2010 for HVAC products

    - Minimum energy efficiency values have been modified to reflect the highest CEE tier in

      each category.  Below is a complete list of the minimum efficiency requirements.

  1. Bullet  A/C - 16 SEER / 13 EER

  2. Bullet  Heat Pump - 15 SEER / 12.5 EER / 8.5 HSPF

  3. Bullet  Package A/C - 14 SEER / 12 EER

  4. Bullet  Package Heat Pump - 14 SEER / 12 EER / 8 HSPF

  5. Bullet  Natural Gas Furnaces - 95% AFUE

  6. Bullet  Natural Gas Hot Water Boiler - 90% AFUE

  7. Bullet  Propane Furnace - 95% AFUE

  8. Bullet  Propane Hot Water Boiler - 90% AFUE

  9. Bullet  Any Oil to Gas conversions meeting above criteria

    - Tax Credit amount has been changed from a fixed dollar amount to a percentage of total

      property expenditure.*

  1. Bullet  Credit amount based on cost of installation

  2. Bullet  Credit amount is 30% of total property expenditure

  3. Bullet  Credit capped at $1,500 for expenditures in 2009 and 2010**
